Meditative Sutra Recitation (Evening)

A quiet way to close the day in practice

Our evening sutra recitation offers a calm and reflective way to bring the day to a close.

We recite selected passages from Kyoten: Sutra Readings in English, drawn from the Threefold Lotus Sutra, and gather in a shared rhythm of recitation at the end of the day. Through this practice, we pause, reflect on how the day has unfolded, and gently return to the spirit of the Buddha’s teachings.

Rather than striving to achieve calm, the practice invites us to let go of the day’s busyness and to express gratitude through recitation itself. Over time, this steady evening practice becomes a quiet support for how we live and relate to others.

The recitation lasts around 30 minutes and takes place in a peaceful and unhurried atmosphere at the Buddhist centre. You are very welcome to join, whether you wish to recite aloud, listen quietly, or simply sit and be present.

This session is open to anyone, including those who are new to Buddhism or to sutra recitation.
