Anniversary of the birth of Shakyamuni (Big gathering)

Shakyamuni’s birth is celebrated on 8 April. On that day, we reflect on the meaning of his birth and join in the ritual of pouring sweet tea over an image of the infant Shakyamuni, which is placed in a miniature pagoda. The celebration in this style takes place in East Asian Buddhist countries and has been called the Flower Festival.
* In South and Southeast Asian countries, Vesak is observed to mark several events in the life of the Buddha, including his birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana. According to the Theravada tradition it is observed on the day of the full moon in either April or May.

By revering the Buddha through the sincere recitation of the Lotus Sutra, we remember and praise his virtues and teachings and express our deep gratitude and appreciation to Shakyamuni Buddha. We also watch a video about the significance of Shakyamuni’s birth and conduct the tea-pouring ceremony.

It is a big gathering, a chance to see our people at once. Feel free to join us and enjoy, and let’s get connected. Zoom streaming is also available (service part only). This event is open to anyone, including non-members. We are happy to welcome you all.
